The Story Map Series℠ app template lets you present a series of maps via tabs, numbered bullets, or our expandable 'side accordion' control. In addition to maps, you can also include images, video and web content in your series to tell your story and engage your audience. For example the first tab in a tabbed series can be a compelling photo that sets the scene.
The Story Map Series is popular with authors who have quite a lot of data to present, such as crime statistics or analysis results. It is also an effective way to show change over time, where each map in the series represents a different time period, or to serve as a presentation combining graphics, maps, scenes and embedded apps.
Your story is automatically hosted on ArcGIS Online.
Story Map apps are open source, so you have the option to host an app on your own web server. For example, you may want to give your story a custom URL, or make styling changes beyond what is possible with our authoring tools. If you're a developer, you can get the source code on GitHub to do more advanced customization. See the introduction below for step-by-step instructions, and visit our Developers’ Corner for customization tips and ideas.
